Godiva Platinum Collection
Godiva has been famous for their gold ballotin boxes of chocolates for years, now they've ascended the next metal level with the launch of their platinum collection. Not as exotic as last year's G Collection, the Platinum Collection is 15 pieces including three mousses, four signature pralines, two caramels, three bold fruits and four intense ganaches. Some of the individual pieces include the V.S. Comtesse, a dark chocolate ganache laced with brandy, the Razabelle, a raspberry layered with vanilla caramel and dark chocolate, and the Mielodie, a honeyed almond butter praline in white chocolate. The one pound box which contains 60 pieces sells for $80.

The "Platinum Collection" is just an overpriced, "painted up" version of their normal chocolates. Its a pity, really. I'd hoped for something with "more flavor, less sweetness". No such luck here. Godiva disappoints...
A far superior choice for premium chocolates (especially if you're partial to dark) would be the selections from Chocolat Modern - http://www.chocolatmoderne.com/
- where the emphasis is on the actual flavors as opposed to simply being cloyingly sweet as is often the case with Godiva.
