Cognac Frapin Cuvee 1888
We already knew Cognac Frapin (shown here) was expensive at nearly $4,000 per bottle but we hadn't seen anything yet. Ireland Online reports that the Cognac Frapin Cuvee 1888 hits the market today. The limited edition cognac comes in a crystal decanter with a 24K gold stopper. It's a blend of Grande Champagne cognacs dating back as far as 1870 and distilled and aged at the Chateau de Fontpinot vineyard in Segonzac, France. Just 1,888 bottles exist and it will sell for an eye-popping 4,400 euros (nearly $5,400). The 700 ml bottle comes in a wooden box with a solid block of Pierre Frapin perfume in a gilded gold fob watch. Beatrice Cointreau, chief executive of Cognac Frapin, says the price is due to the cognac itself because it is irreplaceable.
