Starwood Hotels Rewards Donations

Starwood Hotels, which has four hotels in the New Orleans area, has announced that they will reward members of the Starwood Preferred Guest program who donate $50 or more to the Red Cross or Starwood Hurricane Relief Fund a one-time award of 500 Starpoint. Members worldwide are eligible for cash donations made through October 31, 2005. Donations to the Starwood Relief Fund will directly benefit the Starwood employeees from the Sheraton New Orleans, W New Orleans and W French Quarter hotels as well as relief agencies. Their website also has information on the progress of the cleanup of the Starwood Hotels in the area. Sunday night Starwood's downtown and French Quarter hotels turned their marquee logo signs on at the Sheraton New Orleans, W New Orleans and W French Quarter as all three hotels are running on generator power. Federal agents are currently staying in the hotels and it is not known yet when they will be open for business again.

We journeyed to New Orleans a few years ago and stayed at the Business-District W hotel. Very nice place and the staff was wonderful. There was a report on the news the other day that fires had demolished several buildings in the vicinity of the hotel, but I think the W still stands.
We long to return to that place and will probably take advantage of this offer.
