$1 Million Reward for James Dean's Wrecked Porsche
CNN reports that an Illinois museum is seeking the car that James Dean crashed on Sept. 30, 1955 on a California highway. The wrecked car had been purchased by car customizer George Barris, who had customized the Porsche for Dean, adding the number "130" and the nickname "Little Bastard" on the back of the car. The car went missing when Barris sent it around the country as part of a safety demonstration. Now, as the 50 year anniversary of Dean's death approaches the Volo Auto Musuem is showing artifacts from the crash including the passenger-side door but they want the whole car and have offered a $1 million price. To be eligible for the payment, the car will have to be authenticated by Barris. Is the car out there somewhere, under a tarp in a barn maybe, just waiting for discovery or was it sacrificed for scrap years ago?
