Has the man behind the fashion for Beaujolais Nouveau been topping off his vintages with cheaper wines? That's the allegation facing Georges Duboeuf. A formal inquiry has been opened which claims that barrels holding the equivalent of 300,000 bottles were found to contain a mixture of cheap, average and expensive wines. Everything was mixed in together. Duboeuf has claimed that the find was an error not an attempt to defraud the pubic and that none of the wine was put on the market. He puts the blame on a manager who was acting along and has since been dismissed.
