Wine Camp
Why should kids have all the fun of summer camp? The Long Island Bed & Breakfast group has created a unique program designed to expose New Yorkers to the charms of the Long Island wine. Wine Camp is a four day, three night hands-on immersion into the world of Long Island wines. Just like real campers, the participants have a real outdoor experience getting their hands dirty in the vineyards. They can also try blending wines in a laboratory and learn tasting and wine pairings. Campers receive a case of Long Island wines, an autographed book from the founder of Long Island's first vineyard, Wine Camp memorabilia and a Wine Camp Certificate. The whole experience costs a very reasonable $675 per person, double occupancy for a standard room (but premium rooms are available for a bit more). The adventure includes spending time with winemakers and vineyard owners of award-winning wineries, dinner at a local premier restaurant and a six-course food and wine pairing dinner event at Castello di Borghese Vineyard featuring food. Sure beats bunk beds and tying lanyards.
