Cooking School With Giuliano Hazan
If you want to really cook Italian, why not study with one of the most famous names in Italian cooking, Giuliano Hazan. In this month's Gourmet, Abe Opincar spends a week learning at the hand of the master. Hazan, author of several books on Italian cuisine, teaches classes that are one-week, hands-on experiences with field trips and restaurant dinners included. Hazan is the son of Marcella and Victor Hazan. He teaches classes at Villa Giona near Verona, Italy. A maximum of 12 students learn the ins and outs of homemade pasta, risotto, meats, local fish, vegetables, and desserts. Classes also include presentations by Marilisa Allegrini who lectures on Italian wine. Wines by the Allegrini vineyards and other distinguished Italian producers, accompany the meals. A six-night stay costs $4,175 per student for a king size room with a private bath. Guaranteed to spoil you for anything but homemade pasta again.
