It's the ideal time to take the in the beauty of costal Maine. Maine Eastern Railroad has begun its first full season. The train will provide roundtrip passenger service Thursdays through Sundays from Brunswick to Rockland now through Labor Day weekend with weekend service scheduled to run through October 31.It's the first time in decades that major passenger train has serviced Maine north of Portland. The Maine Eastern passenger train uses restored streamlined stainless steel railcars from the Art Deco era of the 1940s and 1950s. A roundtrip first class ticket costs $55 and includes parlor seating, observation deck, large viewing windows, hors d'oeuvres, drinks, TV, radio and air conditioning. Not a bad way to travel to the lobster festival in Rockland next week.
