Jet Aviation Plans To Set Up Shop in Moscow
The Moscow Times reports that Jet Aviation, the Swiss company that kitted out the interior of billionaire Roman Abramovich's Boeing will set up shop in Moscow by the end of the year. This move is just one in a list of big-money companies setting up shop in Moscow to cater to Russia's new millionaires. According to the article, in the past two years alone, Russians have spent as much as $500 million on private jets. Jet Aviation offers maintenance, engineering services, fixed base operations, aircraft sales, charter services, management and aviation staffing. In Russia, where the private jet business is just getting started there is lots of room for expansion. Abramovich, who owns the Chelsea soccer club which is 12 time zones away from Chukotka, where he is governor, is Russia's richest man. His Boeing 767 includes a kitchen and an area for the crew in the front of the plane, a lounge, a room for security guards, two offices, a cabin for 36 passengers and a two-level bedroom.
