Classic Car Club Opens in Manhattan
The Classic Car Club has opened in Manhattan. The club members-only group for men and women which lets members drive a fleet of beautiful vintage cars. It's similar to Club Sportiva in California but this club works on a membership fee basis letting members worry only about filling the tank. Cars in the Classic Car Club Manhattan stable include a 1977 Aston Martin V8, 1965 AC Shelby Cobra, 1980 308 Ferrari, 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STi and many others. The club will also hold events including track days at Lime Rock Raceway and club rally days. There is a one-time initiation fee of $1,500 and a gold membership costs $10,500. Members generally get about 40 driving days per year. The club's official launch party will take place on July 20.

A similar club is currently starting up in Princeton. Princeton Garage and Sports & Specialists Cars of Princeton are teaming up to form Legends Motor Club. For an annual membership fee, members receive a predetermined number of points, which can be exchanged for driving any of the cars owned by the club over the course of a year. The club’s current stable includes an Aston Martin DB-7 convertible, a Porsche 911 convertible, a Lotus Elise, a Ferrari F355 spider convertible, a Lexus SC 430, an Acura NSX, in what the club’s founders refer to as “Princeton orange,” among others.
The club currently has 16 members and will limit total membership to 50.

One point of clarification regarding Club Sportiva, it is a private Member's club. Only a few cars are allowed to be rented on occassion, as a trial to join the Club. It is actually the original "Sports Car Share" company in the U.S., in its third year with nearly 200 Members with two locations.
Monthly membership is limited to ten Members per month as the Club grows to 60 cars, from its current 20.
Club Sportiva's European division is Euro Sportiva, which is a rental company (not a "timeshare") that offers nearly 25 new Ferrari and Lamborghini models for delivery anywhere in Western Europe. Its website is: www.Euro-Sportiva.com and well worth checking out for your next vacation to Europe.

This is a very interesting area for classic car enthusiasts.
The first question is whether the punter wants to rent cars or to have a higher initial investment with the club concept?
A second question is whether the club concept provides the level of car quality expected by the customer?
A third question is what cars do customers want to experience?
I would be interested in comments on these questions.
