Hublot Big Bang
Europastar reports that watchmaker Hublot will be part of the "Big Bang" exhibition at the Pompidou Centre in Paris. The exhibition takes place from now until 28 February 2006. The partnership is a natrual since Hublot has created the Big Bang watch. The "Big Bang" exhibition throws together all types of modern and contemporary plastic arts, photography, cinema, video, architecture, design, and literature, showcasing works and styles from the turn of the last century to the present day side by side. The Big Bang watch is a large watch that combines a variety of materials including gold and ceramics, Kevlar and red gold, tantalum or rubber with classic Swiss watchmaking tradition. The watch is built of superimposed layers of different materials and the 44.5 mm diameter casing of the Big Bang is fashioned from 18K gold or steel. A Kevlar insert gives the impression that the rubber strap goes through the watch itself. The Hublot Big Bang will be available in the autumn of 2005.

44.5cm diameter????? Well I suppose at 18 inches it can hardly be described as a SMALL bang! Its either one HUGE watch or one small typo!

Thanks Steve, it was a typo (but in my defense it was Europastar's typo not mine). At 44.5mm it's still a big watch but at least it's a bit more manageable.

WOW!!!! This has to be the best combo of materials in a watch that I have ever seen. I open up a watch magazine at my local Barns & Nobel(Phoenix,AZ) and this thing literally "Jumped" of the page like an "Black Jagaur" attacking it's pray.I'm only a beginner "Watch Ethusiast" by magazines and book, but I know craftsmanship and beauty when I see it.

This watch sounds very impressive - looks fantastic and I love the innovative mix of materials to achieve a thing of beauty.
I hate to be so vulgar but does anyone have a ball park idea as to how much this is likely to cost?
