The $70 Million Apartment Gets Divided

The beautiful $70 million Pierre Hotel apartment is being split. Curbed reports on the Wall Street Journal article that says owner Martin Zweig is dividing the triplex into two homes, a meager $11 million five-room pad and a $59 million, 13-room megahome.  Seems to me that if you can afford $59 million, it's not such a leap to $70 million so perhaps Zweig just needs to make a little quick cash off the smaller place.  Or maybe it was that $48,000 per month maintenance fee that needed trimming.
