Cockburn's Port Declares 2003 Vintage
The House of Cockburn's has announced that it will declare both Cockburn's 2003 Vintage and Cockburn's "Quinta dos Canais" 2003 Single Quinta Vintage. This follows on the heels of Symington's declaration in April. According to the press release, Cockburn's has historically been more conservative than other port houses in declaring a vintage. They feel this is the best Canais they have ever made. The Cockburn's Vintage is described as being "intensely purple in color, with aromas of blackberries and mature plums; full and firm on palate, with a long fruity finish resonating with chocolate overtones" and the "Quinta dos Canais" as "Vibrant in color, with berry fruit tones complemented by floral aromas; beautifully balanced and with a elegant tannic structure and agreeably slightly dry finish."
