Kanye West Raps About Conflict Diamonds
We've been interested in the story of conflict gems for a while so we were intrigued to see that rapper Kanye West is now involved in the cause. According to this piece in National Jeweler, West first titled his new single "Diamonds from Sierra Leone" as "Diamonds are Forever." But West changed the song when he heard about conflict diamonds. Now the new song highlights the darker side of bling. In the song, West asks "These ain't conflict diamonds, is they Jacob?" referencing blingmaster Jacob Arabo. Something tells me the folks at De Beers aren't too thrilled about this one.

I commend Kanye once again for bringing serious issues onto the Hip Hop stage. There are so many young people listening to our music and it is wonderful that Kanye can intrigue their minds to think about issues such as this very serious subject of 'blood diamonds'. Instead of just looking & admiring the bling, perhaps they will search for the truth about how some diamonds were found & smuggled into this country.

If Someone is reading this and knows how to contact Kanye Please email me a contact number or email address. I can help him raise money and awareness for Katrina Survivors. I am an event coordinator and I have an event that will not only raise hundreds if not millions of dollars to help Katrina survivors but it will help his image and his fight against bush

There is no way anyone is going to give out the personal contact information of Kanye West. Curious...how much of his personal cash has he donated to the relief efforts? I dunno. I don't know how seriously I can take someone with a line like, These AIN'T conflict diamonds, IS they Jacob?. Don't want to bash anyone, but I think rappers and politics just don't mix.

I think Kanye is great. Not just for his music, but his message. We live in a time where there is no fight and no ambition. Largely because many of us have opportunities to be what we consider to be "ballers". At the same time we are ballen out of control, we are falling out of control. Kanye provokes everyone to think deep and beyond the surface. I love rap music and like hard-core rap. Unfortanetly, young black men and women has become victims of trying to outshine each other as a result. I would love to collaborate with Kanye. Not to do music, but to do something positive to promote wealth in the communities so we can all ball like the Jewish kid after his 13th birthday.
