Kilchoman Distillery
Next month the first new distillery in 124 years will open on the island of Islay in Scotland. The Kilchoman farm distillery plans to produce whisky from barley to bottle to create a handcrafted product. The self-sufficient distillery will open during the Islay Whisky Festival and production will begin at the end of June. They will bottle a five-year-old malt and also bottle at 8, 10 & 12 years of age and keep some spirit back for older special bottlings. The plan is to start small and offer a quarter of the year's production in cask to private customers.
