Gumball 3000 Underway
Our car-loving sibs, Autoblog hit this on Monday (they are right, the Gumball website is awful) but after I read this month's piece on the Gumball 3000 in Vanity Fair I had to chime in. While Autoblog notes the cars, I'm more impressed with the bacchanalian partying that goes on. Valium for breakfast, hookers by the handful and a sea of champagne are just some of the elements of this race. This year's celeb contingent includes Johnny Knoxville, Adrian Brody and Quentin Tarantino but it's the wacky spendhappy non-celebs that are often more interesting as they rattle around Europe hitting five-star hotels and speeds of 200 mph. Pranks, booze and abound on this race that is not for the faint of heart (so many crashes) or light of wallet.
