Marqes de Riscal's City of Wine

gehry spain

I first saw the model shown here in this month's Robb Report.  The Marques de Riscal winery in Elciego, Spain has commissioned architect Frank Gehry to wrap his swirling metal ribbons around their new hotel and visitors center.  The massive project will be an $80 million complex that is built atop an old wine cellar and will include a hotel, restaurant, Caudalie Vinotherapie spa and of course, an ample wine cellar.  The three colored titanium ribbons on the building, pink, gold and white, are meant to symbolize the wine, the foil, and the wire covering a bottle.
