Hilton Opens the First Undersea Restaurant
Hilton has opened the world's first undersea restaurant at the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa Rangali Island. The restaurant sits over 16 feet down in the Indian ocean and has 270-degree water views. The restaurant, Ithaa, uses curved acrylic to give diners the sensation of being surrounded by water. The restaurant can only seat 14 at a time and is reached by descending a spiral staircase. THe food is described as contemporary Maldive cuisine equal to restaurants in large cities but with schools of fish swimming over your head it might be easy to ignore the meal.

Technically, Ithaa is the world's first "all glass underwater restaurant." The Red Sea Star is the world's first plain-old underwater restaurant (http://www.divester.com/2005/05/11/the-red-sea-star-restaurant/).
