Harvard's Luxury Goods Conference
If you've got a little money in your pocket and you are heading down to Target or Costco, you just might be a luxury
shopper. These are the top two favorite stores of those making $350,000 per year according to
the wisdom from the Retail & Luxury Goods conference held at Harvard Business School
on April 3. Luxury shoppers tend to combine trips to discount retailers with those to more posh shoping
venues. Topics at the conference included the fate of the department store, online retailing, and the delicate art of
"masstige" which sounds like a new spa treatment but actually refers to marketing luxury to the masses. A
bonus for attendees was a swag bag including a brown tote from Elie Tahari, a
leather business card holder from IWC, and Bigelow beauty products.
