Will Macau Be The Next Las Vegas?
Four Seasons Hotels Inc. and seven other international hotel chains are discussing plans to create a multibillion-dollar resort on the island of Macau, China. The initial plans call for seven resort hotels with 10,000 rooms and eight separate theatre venues. The completed development will give Macau almost half the number of rooms that Las Vegas has. While it took Vegas many years to become a hot spot, Macau will have the benefit of a cluster of brands assembling in one place to create an instant tourist destination. Plans include the $1.8 billion Venetian Macau. Macau is the only place in China where gambling is legal and will soon overtake Vegas in gambling revenue.
