Emirates Palace

An article from the New York Times brings us an interesting update about the Emirates Palace, which we've blogged about before. The hotel has now thrown its doors open to the public after an estimated $3 billion dollar construction job, which the NYT says may make it the most expensive hotel ever built. Room rates run from $625 to $13,000 a night. Services include coffee served on a silver tray with rose petals, a turn down service each night with lavender scents, a champagne bath and someone who roams poolside to do things like clean your sunglasses.
