Does Beverly Hills Need Another Hotel?
The LA Times covers the fracas over the proposed new hotel complex in Beverly Hills. Montage Hotel is a 214-room hotel slated for the "golden triangle" area of real estate on Wilshire Boulevard one block east of Rodeo. The hotel is a $200 million project which includes a spa, retail shops, restaurants and condos on the top floor. Beverly Hills citizens are fighting the project, fearing it will be more congestion to an already overcrowded area. It all comes down to Measure A. Citizens of Beverly Hills will be able to vote on whether the project will go through. Rival real estate companies are funding the protestors making this hotly-contested battle a war of both money and words.
