Padilla Robusto
I picked up the Padilla Robusto on the recommendation of the cigar guy in my local shop. In doing my preliminary pre-smoke research I learned that the Padilla is a Nicaraguan blend made with one of the most expensive wrappers available. I immediately checked out my own Padilla Robusto and noticed that the leaf was indeed beautiful—lightly-veined and even-colored. Their website also made sure that I learned that 50 Cent was a big fan of the Padilla. Good to know. My Padilla had a pleasing earthy scent before smoking. The smoke it released quickly dissipated into the air. It's a fat well-packed cigar that draws smoothly and doesn't require a lot of maintenance, plus the shorter length means that it isn't a huge time consumer. The overall impression I had of the cigar was that it was smooth but lacked a distinct character. It provided a very gentle nicotine buzz. One of the best things about it was the mild slightly nutty flavor it left behind. Unfortunately the cigar I smoked seemed a little dry and it fell apart a bit toward the end but overall it was a nice mellow smoke. A lovely accompaniment to an unseasonably warm and starlit Southern California evening.
