More Todd English
One of the best restaurant news blogs around is Andrea Strong's Strong Buzz. She reports on happenings in New York. This week's edition contains updates on restaurant tsunami benefits and an excellent review of the new BLT Fish but I was most intrigued by the news that chef Todd English and restauranteur Jeffrey Chodorow are combining forces to create English is Italian, a new restaurant in New York. Chodorow who is perhaps most famous for his public feud with Rocco diSpirito on "The Restaurant" owns a string of successful restaurants including China Grill and the new Caviar and Banana Brasserio. Camera-friendly English has his own list of restaurants including several incarnations of Olives and an eponymous restaurant on the Queen Mary 2. I've had a crush on Todd English since the early days when Olives was just one restaurant in Charlestown, Massachusetts and he could be spotted tending the stoves. He's famous for large portions and hearty Northern Italian food. Hopefully when these two massive egos collide the result will be more pleasant than the Rocco debacle. The restaurant is set to open next month.
