Airbus A380
The LA Times reports on the unveiling of the Airbus A380, the new super-jumbo jet. On Tuesday at Airbus headquarters in France the plane will be shown to 5,000 guests including Tony Blair and Jacques Chirac. How big is this plane? It fits approximately 600 passengers on two decks, and is 260 feet across and seven stories high. The plane is so large that many terminals will need to be redesigned to support it. The cost: $250 million. The articles says that eleven airlines and FedEx and UPS have already ordered planes. We're hoping someone like Paul Allen or Larry Ellison buys one as the ultimate private plane. Interior shots after the jump.
