The Vera Wang Suite at Halekulani
Designer Vera Wang has turned her eye to a
creating a hotel experience. The Vera Wang Suite at Halekulani, a hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii, will be completed in
December. Vera Wang will also have a boutique in the hotel to sell her home accessories and jewelry collections.
Wang has said that the suite will be the ultimate in luxury and will give her a chance to use her furnishings and
accessories to create a complete look. The style is described as "romantic modern." The suite is 2,135
square feet (more than four times larger than Wang's boutique in the hotel) and will be filled with fresh
flowers. The suite includes a dining room area set with Vera Wang china, a TV lounge, living room and lanai as
well as a bedroom and bath. The suite comes with a private pool cabana and services of a pool butler. Wang is part of
an ongoing trend—other designers such as Donatella Versace and Salvatore Ferragamo have their own hotels and co-branded
Bulgari and Armani hotels are also in the works. For designers who already have a line of home furnishings, the
move is a natural fit but it remains to be seen if a designers name will be enough to drive guests to a particular
hotel or suite.
